Bing Map for Windows Store Apps


If you have used Bing map for Windows Phone or Silverlight applications. And you are gearing up for creating the app for Windows 8. This article would help you get a key for Windows Store app (XAML/ JavaScript/C++/VB).


You need to navigate to the following url, which is newly configured for any type of apps including Windows Store apps.


If you hold a live ID, you could proceed for existing user sign in process.

Else, start up with a new user and create a live id.

Creating Account

Create account holds the account name and the email as the mandatory fields. Of course you need to agree to the terms and conditions to create the account.

Creating a Bing map Key

Under My account, you could find a link to create or view keys.

Create App Specific Key

The following page would appear if you have clicked on Create or view keys. As you see, you need to provide Application name, type of key, type of application and the security codes (character image).

The application URL is optional, which you could fill up later, when the application development is over and it’s published.

Viewing all keys

Clicking on “Create or view keys” also brings up the existing keys. The tabular data displays your app name, key, app type and key type.

Updating and existing key

The application name and the application URL could be updated at any time. However, if you need to change the Key type and application type; then you need to create a new one.
